Huntfield Donates Trees For Charles Town Revitalization

Contributing to the beautification of Charles Town, 37 trees were recently planted in the downtown area by Huntfield, a local master-planned community and active participant in the town's revitalization program. The $15,000 tree donation included plantings of maples and hawthorns along Washington and George Streets and dogwoods at the Jefferson County Court House.

When the City undertook the revitalization contract for downtown a number of change orders were received that created a budget overrun. The City contacted Jim Duszynski, CEO of Greenvest, and asked if Greenvest could help by taking on the street tree plantings, freeing up the money to pay for the change orders.

"We wanted to give back to Charles Town, which has been so gracious in welcoming us to the area," said Christina Sanders, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Greenvest L.C., developer of Huntfield. "We developed Huntfield as an extension of downtown Charles Town, recognizing its architectural and historic significance. Our commitment is to continue to be involved in efforts to preserve and enhance this community."

Assisting with the coordination and implementation of the tree plantings were City Manager Jane Arnett, Chief of Police William Aldridge and their staffs.
